MainframeComputers are BigIron machines that, until recently, required dedicated onsite operators and systems programmers. There are not too many of these companies left, as MicrosoftCorporation has been successful in marketing programs aimed at getting companies to downsize their computing platform.
One of the notable companies that still sell MainframeComputers is BigBlue.
MicrosoftCorporation organized a MainframeMigrationAlliance, which has its first conference in May05. See more at http://www.computerworld.com/printthis/2005/0,4814,102110,00.html.
