Systems ManagementSystemsManagement includes the tasks required to keep all computer system (or network of systems) elements functioning smoothly. (BigBlue definition).
A function responsible for smooth operation of IT computing infrastructure, taking into account applicable hardware change management, reliability, capacity, operational security concerns, etc.
As there is increasing demand for ServiceOrientedArchitecture compliant computing, the management of various hardware platforms becomes more complex.
ServiceLevelAgreement concepts probably started within the SystemsManagement function.
Traditional SystemProgramming duties (e.g. DatabaseAdministration?) reside within the SystemsManagement function.
