A way to RefactorByAdding? to another person's contribution.

Original:
Can this be half the size by the end of Friday, with just as much signal but twice as readable. I think so. -- RichardDrake
Refactored to:
Can this [page] be half the size by the end of Friday, with just as much signal but twice as readable. I think so. -- RichardDrake, [WayneCool]
Discussion:
I retract my previous doubts and vote for. This looks natural enough and the signature in brackets should be helpful. -- RichardDrake
Supposedly authors are different, some like smaller edits on their contributions, some not. Therefore the FriendlyPeerContributor marks even minimal inserts and deletions. He does it in such a way that the original author can easily accept, restore or even ignore it. A similar, minimal invasive technique for marked and restorable deleting is given in ExampleStuffOutOfMouth. -- FridemarPache
I almost like this last idea of Fridemar's, as it seems to respect the original work of the author, which appears to have been forgotten in much of the previous discussion and, um, refactoring (which it wasn't). However, I would like it better if people would post something new and interesting instead of droning on about how to modify what's here already. This could be a personal problem of my own, I freely grant. --RonJeffries
My take on this is that a sense of scale and proportion on the part of the refactorer is needed. Fixing someone's spelling mistakes is one thing, changing the meaning of what they're saying is another. On WhatIsLogologie? I went through and fixed some of the CyberYogi?'s fractured english before tapping out a line and inserting my opinion, of course I also inserted a snarky comment about the venerable's .sig but what can I say, I'm one of those HumanBeings. -- LarryPrice
There are thousands of alternative possibilities to be friendly -- fp
What's wrong with this?
Can this (page? --fp) be half the size by the end of Friday, with just as much signal but twice as readable. I think so. -- RichardDrake
It provides a CompactAndModularRepresentation? of the modification without being unreadable. -- TaralDragon
