Are We Simulations

If our universe, or our life, was a computer simulation, how would we know? Does it matter? Why is a warm CPU "less" of a universe than bubbling subatomic strings? Plus, being a simulation may mean we are being backed up (in case the LHC does a big no-no and wins the GalacticDarwinAward).
