Bremen University offers you manifold degree programs, avantgarde research facilities, and a multicultural student community life. Our young university has repeatedly been evaluated by peer academics as one of the best schools in Northern Germany. Founded in 1971, the university has expanded its premises and its faculties steadily so that it now offers international degrees in nine programs ranging from Environmental Physics through Computer Science, and International Law to Gender Studies, many of which are now being taught in English. The university is proud to be home to internationally renowned research and teaching projects jointly conducted with a number of partner universities around the globe, in disciplines as different as American Studies, Media Technology, Social Science or Public Health, and we keep strengthening our European and worldwide academic ties. Being a student at Bremen University, you will become member of a student body of 18.000 – coming from Germany, Europe and overseas.

Bremen has long been a popular destination for students as well as for tourists - and for those of you who have until know only known the city’s famous fairy tale of its “Bremen Town Musicians”: the city holds many more attractions. It invites you to its cosmopolitan and liberal urban culture, rich in local dance, music and theatre institutions as well as to a variety of outdoors activities in its famous parks and on the river Weser, or on the stormy shores of the Northern Sea – only a one hour car drive away.
