Thin Tools

The term thin tool was coined by Daveed Vandevoorde to designate small tools that can operate on an application to perform very specific and Fine Tuned Tasks.

Think of thin tools as User Written Plugins that extends other DevelopmentTools such as compilers.

Mozart employed four thin tools:

• The derivation tool
• The constant fold tool
• The assert tool
• The strip tool
