Simile Became Metaphor

Ward may be like God (in some respects, to some folk), but Ward is not, like, God (speaking in the popular parlance of today's teen-ager). There is a difference.

Theologian Avery Dulles recalls a church service in which someone had hung a banner which read "God is other people." He wrote that he could not resist the temptation to put a comma after the word "other".

Amazing what a little punctuation can do. (PunctuationIsImportant)

(See EmphaticLike and LiterallyMeaningFiguratively)

A simile is like a metaphor.

Similes are just metaphors with no sense of self-worth.
