The RevisionControlSystem manages and keeps certain strings embedded in code up to date. It can provide information about the current, path, latest developer, dates, and times. To add your first keywords, put a dollar sign on each side of the word, as in $Header$ -- the table below shows the keyword and what it automatically expands to:
keyword result -------- - Author ChrisGarrod Date 1995-09-07 09:48:33-07 Header /net/dbs/RCS/RcsKeywords,v 1.4 1995-09-07 09:48:33-07 ChrisGarrod Exp Id RcsKeywords,v 1.4 1995-09-07 09:48:33-07 ChrisGarrod Exp Locker RCSfile RcsKeywords,v Revision 1.4 Source /net/dbs/RCS/RcsKeywords,v State Exp Log RcsKeywords,v Log Revision 1.4 1995-09-07 09:48:33-07 ChrisGarrod Log mv comments to end of this file Log Log-cmt # Revision 1.3 1995/09/07 16:44:43 ChrisGarrod Log-cmt # enclose keywords in $ signs; e.g. $Keyword$ (no colon)My favorite is the $Header$ since it embodies Source, Revision, Date, Locker, and other information. Note that the time listed in Date is in GMT with the local offset. If you want to see local times, set your environmental variable RCSINIT to -zLT
