A constructed elvish language from JRR Tolkien's middle-earth. Quenya represents the formal, scholarly elvish tongue and was seen as the elvish equivalent of Latin. The various SubLanguages? were meant to have been derived from Quenya much as many European languages had their roots in Latin. One of the most commonly used derivations is the SindarinLanguage.
It is interesting to note that Quenya is spoken with more frequency than a lot of the 'real' constructed languages.

Quenya could be considered an 'older sibling' to Sindarin, not a 'parent'. Both Elvish languages are actually derived from a Proto Elvish language, and Quenya is considered to be the more archaic and conservative of the Elvish languages.
