Evidence based on popularity comparisons or votes.

One alleged problem with using it for technology comparisons is that it is hard to filter out the power of marketing, hype, and bandwagon feelings from the total.

I don't have an attribution, but I once saw democracy described as "I cannot convince you that I am right by the force of my arguments, so I will convince you that I must be right because more people agree with me."

Which I thought was rather humorous...
