Pac Man

One of the most recognizable names in video game history.

In Pac-Man, the player controls a little yellow circle whose mission is to eat all of the dots on a maze, while avoiding the four monsters that wander the maze looking for him. There are four energizers on each maze, and by eating one, the monsters turn blue, at which point the tables turn and they are vulnerable to Pac-Man for a limited period of time.

Considered to be one of the most popular video games ot all-time.

To be precise, the most popular arcade game of all time. The most popular video game - in the strict sense of TV consoles - I think was SuperMarioThree. I don't know about computer games.

It joins TetrisGame and Pokémon in being popular among both males and females, which explains the premise behind the sequel, MsPacMan?.

The behavior of the monsters is deterministic, so it wasn't long before experienced players began to memorize exact patterns of navigating the maze, which led to consistently perfect play when followed exactly. PacManPatterns? were used to score the first-ever PerfectGameOfPacMan recently. This flaw was corrected in Ms. Pac-Man and subsequent sequels.
