Modern Ism

A 20th century divergence in the arts from previous traditions, especially in architecture. In the Roman Catholic church, the movement at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries that sought to adapt doctrine to the supposed requirements of modern thought.


In computer science, a movement in the second half of the 20th century encompassing formal specification of software, static typing, recursive structures of code and data, and software engineering.
