Gaston Maurice JuliaScientist, Mathematician. Born in Algeria 3 Feb 1893. Died in Paris, France 19 Mar 1978.
Original inventor of the fractal expressions that are more popularly known as MandelbrotSets. Strictly speaking, the MandelbrotSet is an index into his rotationally-symmetric fractals known as Julia sets.
Famous for his paper "Memoire sur l'iteration des fonctions." He died before computers could do justice to his math.
