I am currently working as an IT Systems Developer for the U.S. Coast Guard and am looking to retire and transition into the civilian sector within the next year. I've been reading and passively watching this site for some time now, and only recently started posting on Wiki so that others may benefit from some of my experiences. Sharing our individual body of knowledge and experiences is an effective way of helping others, and it appears Wiki provides a great conduit for just that purpose.

RELEVANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS & SKILLS:

Developed and managed two IT systems supporting classified HLS program. Expanded first project into an enterprise wide decision-making support system providing a dashboard gauge on operational activities and more; fielded system 18 months from conception and generated a reoccurring annual cost savings of $740k. Second system tied all organizational mission requirements to resource needs in a bottom up budget / resource needs build.

Managed a $2.8M software project for the world’s largest differential GPS system. Turned around a DeathMarchProject by validating requirements, updating business case, re-estimating level of effort, acquiring additional funding & negotiating new delivery schedule. Revitalized development team and created a suite of 7 custom C++ applications in 24 months. Product delivered on time, within new budget, and enabled system expansion to provide 100% DGPS coverage throughout the entire U.S. with 99.7% system availability.

Started a consulting business offering coaching services to senior retail managers and junior executives. Provided clients from retail chains, real estate brokerage, and local mortgage company with communications, leadership and time management skills to gave them a competitive advantage within their respective fields.
