I'm sure that it will not amaze everyone, but it sure got my attention.
I've had some trouble in the past doing edits on wiki pages with Lynx, mostly the loss for format due to loss of [tabs].
So, just to get a better handle on this, and some other points, I created a test DisposablePage? to see ... what could be done.
The format problem was fairly simple -- just an oversight in my earlier efforts. (Just say 'no' when asked if you want to wrap long lines.)
The other thing was "how big a page will Lynx allow you to edit using vi as the editor?"
Well, it allows you to edit REALLY REALLY BIG pages -- I sucked down ChangesInJuly?, inserted it into the DisposablePage? (now deleted), and had no trouble posting the result. From Lynx. Damn.
Primitive tool. Serious lever. Hope this helps others who have run into the "page TooBigToEdit" problem.
So, what are YOU doing with your Saturday night?
I, too, have noticed the seemingly implicit conversion of tabs to spaces in the text returned from vi to Lynx. I wonder if there's a simple way around that.
Is vi doing that or is it Lynx? Anyone?
