Direct Field Assignment

In JavaSpace, searchable attributes of entries must be public. As a result, many people do not encapsulate these atrributes with set and get methods. DirectFieldAssignment generally takes the form:

x.field = value

I have tended to use this with JavaSpace entries because of the necessarily public attributes but I'm now questioning whether this is "proper OO" -- JasonYip
