Dancer In The Dark

Dancer In the Dark is the most exquisitely beautiful, sad, tragic, disturbing and uplifting film I have seen or will see, for a long time.

Starring Björk, as her debut acting appearance, it is a very powerful and moving tale. And one I would strongly recommend viewing. http://www.dancerinthedark.co.uk/

It won lots of awards, I believe - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168629/awards.

Well worth a trip.

Spitting in the eye of all the rules that musical theatre holds dear, this film will break the heart of every child raised on the performances of Julie Andrews. Trust me. There are a lot of us out there.

Although I'm a fan of LarsVonTrier (BreakingTheWaves? is one of my all-time favourites), I absolutely hated this movie. The acting (mainly Bjork's; she should stick to what she does well: music) was poor and the script horribly melodramatic. When the main character finally died, my first reaction was "good riddance".
