Category Tin Foil Hat

Pages in this category have been attacked by participants who bring discussion so outrageous, so ridiculous, so unbelievable, that they are beyond CategoryRant into a realm of their own.

These pages probably need refactoring to separate the completely insane from the merely unreasonable.

My evaluation: There is a place for diversity of opinion, even if some regard that opinion to be "completely insane" or viewed by others as "merely unreasonable". Each individual can place their own value on these differing views and come to their own conclusions. After all isn't that a more "tolerant" and "correct" approach?

[NOTE: some out-of-context discussion of C++ moved to CeePlusPlus]

It's wise to be tolerant of insane ideas because some of them will undoubtedly turn out to be correct. 200 years ago farmers who claimed they saw rocks fall out of the sky were put in CategoryTinFoilHat by orthodox scientists. It was obviously insane to entertain the idea that something as heavy as a rock could get into the sky. MySignalIsYourNoise.

Perhaps 200 years from now, the notion that people once wrote "programs" because "someone has to tell computers what to do" will seem equally insane.
