Backward Looking Work

This is, of course, to be contrasted with ForwardLookingWork?, which seems to be what most of us want to do.

It consists of reflecting on "what hath got wrought" in the marvelous legacy systems we all work on every day. These systems embody some wonderful ideas that seldom make it into actual useful documents.

It can be a lot of fun, especially if you can get paid for it. Get a bunch of the old-timers together and get them swapping war stories about early field problems and how they modified the design to avoid That again.
