An open-source software license based on the principles that any modified versions of a program be prominently marked as such, and that all modifications be made available for incorporation into the standard version.
Popular in the PerlLanguage community, as Perl is distributed under the terms of this license.
See http://www.opensource.org/licenses/artistic-license.php
It has been criticised for being too vague - I believe it didn't give enough for the copyer to know he was definitely legally entitled. I think this has been cleared up now, but I haven't followed the details. Perhaps this was the cause of the PerlDualLicense??
(the ArtisticLicense used by LarryWall for Perl is different from the "Fine Arts Waiver" being developed at OverlyBroadIntellectualPropertyAgreements.)
